One of the best LGBTQ+ films to come out of Britain in the last decade, Pride tells the true story of the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) organisation who financially and publicly supported mining communities during the strikes of the ‘80s. Centring itself round the Gay’s the Word bookshop – which is still going in London to this day – this movie has the crème de la crème of British acting talent and speaks to an important moment in our history of how important solidarity is and can be. To learn about the British LGBTQ+ movement and figures like Mark Ashton, take a watch of this extremely funny and lovable comedy drama (I mean come on, you get to watch Andrew Scott and Bill Nighy with Welsh accents).
