Poetry: Vanishing

Once therein lay your interest – it promised something

Who could have known how softly it would dissipate?

Fall apart and break away so silently and elegantly

No murmur of sound, no hint of noise, like a feather in the wind

Disappearing into nothing, like it never was.

All the more beautiful because there was no struggle

Almost as if it knew there was no point in fighting.

Strings of your heart were cut in two and discarded in the river

To flow away to corners of a place hidden from view.

When the morning comes and your skin feels cold to the touch

Maybe then you’ll stop and think and wonder what happened.
