FORKFORK is a one day event to be held on the 22nd of February. The project works by people skipping a meal on the 22nd of Feb (so we’re all in unity together) and then being given an envelope which contains information about what the project is and where the money is going etc. It also has a wristband in it which they are encouraged to wear as a way of raising awareness about it among friends and also as a reminder to themselves. Then the week after, there is a table in the Forum where people can bring their envelopes back with the money that they haven’t spent inside.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness and money about eradicating hunger in a sustainable way through empowering people with the knowledge about how to work and to provide for themselves.

WHY should I take part in FORK?

1 in 8 people around the world go to bed hungry every night

2 million people die from hunger related causes each year

3 There is enough food in the world for everyone BUT not everyone in the world has enough food, if you take part you can help change this.

WHERE is the money from FORK going?

• A process called ‘Umoja’ run by a charity called Tearfund
• Tearfund empowers people around the world to work and provide for themselves by training communities to identify and use the resources they already have to work their own way out of poverty
• This approach equips a person with the knowledge to better provide for themselves with food for the rest of their lives
• For instance in Uganda we have seen hunger halved in fifty villages that Tearfund is working in
• For more information on Tearfund and their work see:

HOW do I return my envelope?

Once you have filled your envelope with your money, come to FORUM on the 25th, 26th, 28th of Feb or 1st of March between 11 and 4 and everyday there will be a table for you to bring your envelope to. You will be given a wristband to wear to show everyone that you have taken part.

If you would like to find out any more information, check out the facebook page here. Spread the word, skip a meal, save a life and wear your wristband with pride!

Razz love,

Becky xx
