Razz presents… Fashion Soc’s Favourite Industry Moments

Razz recently did Exeter University Fashion Society‘s Lust List, and in return, we present to you their favourite industry moments, from an artist’s point of view…

Rebecca McPherson – President

Since Sarah Burton premiered her SS13 Alexander McQueen collection I’ve been spending an unhealthy amount of time ogling it online. Stiff, patterned metallic suits with three-quarter length legs and cinched-in, belted waists seem to follow on from Prada’s AW12 collection, Burton bringing a slightly reptilian, slightly space-age spin on an already captivating aesthetic. 10 minutes on and the catwalk is filled with vast dresses, a-froth with delicate floral ruffles and bondage-like corsetry. Breath-taking. See it to believe it, and maybe get an idea of what I’m going on about…

Adrien Book – Vice President

Despairing at the thought of choosing only one fashion moment, I’ve chosen a designer whose aesthetic sums up my style to a tee. Brunello Cuccinelli, the reigning King of cashmere and traditional tailoring, will turn you into a super-suave gentleman in minutes, without looking fusty or outdated.

Urenna Okonkwo – Treasurer

Chanel are currently celebrating the timeless chic of their iconic little black jacket with a photography exhibition which has been touring the world, and finally reached our shores this month with a three week stretch at Somerset House. Fashion monoliths Carine Roitfeld and Karl Lagerfeld have photographed 109 celebrities, variously styled, sporting the little black jacket, and they work it like nobody has worked it before.

Charlotte Houareau – Social Secretary

The model whose name is on everybody’s lips, Britain’s very own Cara Delevigne, fronts Chanel’s new campaign alongside Saskia de Brauw. Karl Lagerfeld’s styling sends us straight back to the siècle des Lumières (the century of Enlightenment) and showcases the opulent high class socialites of the era. Cara’s main look brings to mind the era’s signature trends, such as the exaggerated textures and pastel colours, although this is juxtaposed with a modern metallic heel and 20th Century. The new campaign comes as a change to Chanel’s recurring monochrome theme but the luxurious gold and demure pastels make the perfect combination for this ad.

Mark Izatt – Creative Director / Blog Editor

The SS13 collection by Oliver Theyskens, aka Theyskens Theory, has me totally captivated. Models were sent down the runway with identical-length bobs, in varying shades both natural and otherworldly, in beautifully constructed, wearable clothes. The looks ranged from oversized, shoulder-padded black suits, reminiscent of a certain 80s chic, to garments constructed in delicate, twilight sheers that gave the look of luminous deep-sea jellyfish. All in all it was a stunning collection, the minimal set and styling allowing the incredible craft of Theyskins’ clothing to take centre stage.
