Exeter Phoenix Celebrates 10 years of the best short film talent in

Two Short Nights Film Festival

1 – 2 December

For its tenth anniversary, Two Short Nights Film Festival presents extraordinary films from Devonand around the world as well as workshops and seminars for amateur and professional film-makers.

For over a decade Exeter Phoenix has supported film-making talent and helped launch many successful film-making careers.  One of the films being screened at this year’s festival is QuietGuy11 directed by William Westaway. Since receiving his first bursary from Exeter Phoenix, William has gone on to shoot feature length documentaries and is currently developing a new comedy for Channel 4.

Other digital artists and film-makers whose work has been launched at previous Two Short Nights Film Festivals include Jim Ephaums, who created The 365 Project 2010, which gained him attention from Apple who toured the work internationally; David Williams and Andy Oxley, whose filmMaking the Difference was short listed for the Virgin Media Awards; and Ashley Thorpe who currently writes for Fangoria Magazine and is planning to turn his 2008 Short film, The Scayrecrow, into his first feature film.

The festival is an excellent opportunity for local emerging talent to showcase their work.  This year, Tom Austin from Torbay will screen his first film, supported by Exeter Phoenix, entitled  Dog-collar Criminal which tells the story of a Plymouth vicar who robbed a bank in the ‘70s.

Tom says “Without the support of Exeter Phoenix, I would have given up on my celluloid dreams a long time ago.”
